The possibility of greenhouse gas emissions reduction from the dairy cattle farms
نویسندگان
چکیده
Dairy cattle have a significant share in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Therefore, due to the growing demand for milk and products, it is worth looking solutions effectively reduce environmental impact of dairy farming. The article reviews literature on reduction emissions from farms through dietary interventions. Significant can be achieved by optimizing use various feed additives. Silvo-pastoralism systems are also important their ecosystem services, including climate change mitigation.

The impact of genetic selection on greenhouse-gas emissions in Australian dairy cattle
In Australia, dairy cattle account for ~12% of the nation’s agricultural greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions. Genetic selection has had a positive impact, reducingGHGemissions fromdairy systemsmainly due to increased production per cow, which has led to (1) requiring fewer cows to produce the same amount ofmilk and (2) lowering emissions per unit of milk produced (emission intensity). The objective o...
متن کاملGreenhouse Gas Emissions from Ground Level Area Sources in Dairy and Cattle Feedyard Operations
A protocol that consisted of an isolation flux chamber and a portable gas chromatograph was used to directly quantify greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at a dairy and a feedyard operation in the Texas Panhandle. Field sampling campaigns were performed 5 consecutive days only during daylight hours from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm each day. The objective of this research was to quantify and compare GHG emiss...
متن کاملWRJAS Greenhouse gas emissions from dairy farming in Bangladesh
Livestock is a vital source of methane and nitrous oxide gas which are considered as hazardous greenhouse gas (GHG) causing global warming. This study was conducted to assess GHG emissions from different livestock categories of different (small, medium, large) dairy farming in Bangladesh by using IPCC guideline 2006 and CIGR 2002. The emission rate of CH4, N2O (mainly emits from manure) is incr...
متن کاملGreenhouse Gas Emissions of Tourism-Based Leisure Farms in Taiwan
This research is the first attempt of a carbon emission investigation of tourism-based farms. A total of 36 cases were investigated. The result reveals that each tourist returns an average revenue of 28.6 USD and generates an average 10.9 kg-CO2eq per visit of carbon emissions. The average carbon emission density for each land area is 8.2 t/ha·year and is 245 kg/m2·year for each floor area. It ...
